UPDATE: Hilary Duff's Dad Released From Jail

Thursday August 28, 2008
USMAGAZINE.COM: Singer and actress Hilary Duff's father was released from a Texas jail Thursday, a day after being ordered to spend 10 days there for contempt of court and pay $12,500 to his ex-wife for the star's 21st birthday party and a present.
Bob Duff was found by a Houston judge on Wednesday to have violated an injunction against selling assets without court approval because of his current divorce battle with ex-wife Susan.
Susan was seeking $25,000 to pay for Hilary's party and a present.
Bob, who will also have to pay $367,537 from the improper sale of stocks last months if his appeal is denied, was taken away from the courtroom in handcuffs.
Bob was released from jail on Thursday, his attorney, Robert Piro, told Usmagazine.com.
"Hallelujah!" he said upon his release, according to Piro.

Hilary Gets Her Curves Back

OK.CO.UK: HILARY Duff revealed a much curvier figure on the set of her newest film yesterday.
The stunning actress, who worried friends and family when she lost a drastic amount of weight in 2005, looked healthy and happy filming scenes for Stay Cool.
Hilary had previously claimed her shrinking frame was down to pilates and exercise, but later revealed she did feel she had lost too much weight.
She said: "I did get skinny, I've felt that pressure like everyone else in my position. When a newspaper comes out that says 'Duff Puff - she must have gained 15 pounds' or something like that, how would any normal person react?"
The 20-year-old revealed she has body worries like everyone else, adding: "People are thin. I do worry about what I look like but I'm not going to let it control my life."
Hilary is currently working on recording her new album, including a song penned by Ryan Tedder - frontman for OneRepublic and the man responsible for Leona Lewis' global hit, Bleeding Love.

Hilary Duff to Start New LP's Work, Drop New Single
ACESHOWBIZ.COM: Hilary Duff reportedly is set to continue her music route by preparing the follow up to "Dignity". Although hasn't had a release date or title yet, reports claim that Hilary will start the recording process for her new LP by the end of the week or early next week. Moreover to promote the upcoming LP, Duff will be dropping a new single which is titled "Reach Out" in August. The new song, which was written by the pop singer with the help of OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and Kara DioGuardi, will feature a music sample from Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus".
"Reach Out" itself was actually planned to be released earlier and included on the re-released edition of "Dignity". But Duff opted otherwise and chose to use the song as the lead single for her upcoming LP. Reports also stated that the music video is also being prepared and it will start filming soon.
The pop star's upcoming LP will be her fourth studio set until this year since embarking to the music scene with "Metamorphosis" on August, 23, 2003. Meanwhile, her latest outing "Dignity" was dropped on April 3, 2007.

Hilary Duff breaks out of her shell

Seductive role in movie War, Inc. tarnishes her wholesome persona — in a good way.
CHRON.COM: Houston-born Hilary Duff already had accrued some TV and film credits, and starred in a popular Disney Channel series, before her first studio album, Metamorphosis, went triple-platinum in 2003. But while her pop-artistry elevated her profile, her movie career remained stuck in neutral.
As she traipsed through such featherweight fare as A Cinderella Story (2004) and The Perfect Man (2005), the former Lizzie McGuire star appeared incapable of offering audiences anything other than variations of her squeaky-clean sitcom persona.
But War, Inc., which opens in Houston today, should dispel that impression. While the wildly uneven political satire has been drawing mostly mixed reviews, Duff's risky and frisky performance as a foul-mouthed Central Asian pop tart has many observers singing her praises. Indeed, some have gone so far as to suggest that the 20-year-old Duff upstages many of her more experienced and accomplished co-stars.

Hilary Duff Survived Putting a Scorpion Down Her Pants

FOXNEWS.COM: LOS ANGELES—George Clooney’s former flame Sarah Larson may have caused jaws to drop when she ate a scorpion on "Fear Factor," but we think Hilary Duff was even more daring by putting the deadly creature down her pants while filming the futuristic flick "War, Inc."
"Everyone made a big deal out of it on the set — not because it was vulgar or in a sexual way — it was more like ‘Oh my God, you are putting a scorpion in your pants!’ The whole place was freaking out," Duff said. "I had the whole crew standing there clapping and being like 'Good job, you did it one more time!' It was really scary and it was a real scorpion."
But unlike so many young stars that seem to cause lots of trouble in Tinseltown, Duff said she stays sane by staying out of the spotlight.
"Everyone thinks I’m so perfect — I’m really not. I am a normal 20-year-old and I do things that normal 20-year-olds do," Duff said. "But I just don't feel like my business and my whole life is the whole world's business.
"I want people to pay attention to my work because I work really hard and I work all the time and my personal life should be my personal life, so I don't necessarily want to go to all the places that I know I'm going to get photographed or I know there are going to be people staring at me," she said.
Speaking of which, Duff was spotted hiding out with her New York Islander beau Mike Comrie at "The Wackness" movie premiere after-party at Whiskey Blue last Tuesday night. We’re told the young lovers didn’t leave each other’s side throughout the entire event and even sat on the dance floor together in order to get some privacy in the packed party.

Hilary Duff joins 'Cool' school

THEHOLLYWOODREPORTER.COM: Hilary Duff has found a way to beat the heat, joining the cast of the new Polish brothers comedy "Stay Cool."
Duff co-stars in "Cool" with Winona Ryder, Mark Polish, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase and Jon Cryer.
The project, which shoots in July in Santa Clarita, Calif., is described as a "knowing-your-age comedy," centering on a successful author (Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush (Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors.
Duff will portray Shasta O'Neil, a sexy high school senior who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom.
Mark and Michael Polish, who wrote the script, are producing with Jonathan Sheldon, Ken Johnson and Janet DuBois via their new Prohibition Pictures banner. Michael Polish is directing.
Duff, who broke through by becoming a tween superstar via her Disney TV series "Lizzie McGuire," has been slowly moving beyond that audience. She can be seen in the political satire "War, Inc." opposite John Cusack and has films "Safety Glass" and "Greta" in the can. Duff will be back in the studio to work on her fifth album this summer.
She is repped by WMA and Curtis Talent Management.
